How to fix OnePlus 7/8 Notification No Problem

Many OnePlus users especially those who have OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 8 models complain about notifications that don’t work on their phones. Some also do not experience noise when receiving alerts or incoming calls and they are not sure why. In this article, we will explain the possible causes of this problem and how to overcome them.

Why isn’t my OnePlus notification working?

The following are the most common reasons why notifications might not work on your OnePlus phone:

  • Phone volume is too low
  • The phone is in silent mode
  • Notifications turned off
  • Apps notification not set
  • Do not disturb active mode
  • There are no sound files on internal storage
  • Speaker is damaged or the speaker is not functioning
  • Software bug

How to fix the NoPlus OnePlus Notification

1. Increase the Volume Level

It is possible that the volume on your cellphone is too low and therefore the sound is not loud enough for you to hear. Increasing the volume level often will fix the problem. To do this, adjust the volume buttons to the level where you can clearly hear the sound.

Or, you can also increase the volume level by going to Settings> Sound & vibration and adjusting the volume slider.

2. Check the Slider Alert

Even if the volume level is high, you won’t be able to hear the notification sound if the warning slider is set to silent or vibrate mode. To hear sound, you must set your phone to Ring mode. To do this, adjust the slider (located above the power button on the top right) until you see the Ring icon on the screen.

3. Turn on Voice notifications

Your phone might not have sound activated for notifications and if that’s the case, the first thing you need to do is turn on sound for notifications. To enable voice notifications, complete the following steps.

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Sound & vibration
  • Select Sound and vibration notification
  • Select the tone you want to set for notifications.

Please note that selecting None will turn off notifications. So choose sounds from available tones or from your internal storage.

4. Allow apps notifications

You might not get notifications from certain applications if notifications for those applications are not set or disabled. To allow notifications from certain applications, follow the steps below.

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Applications & notifications
  • In the notification panel, select the application for which you want to receive notifications.
  • Tap Notifications and turn on Show Notifications.

5. Turn off Do not disturb

If you have activated Do Not Disturb, all notifications that come in will be muted. Follow these steps to turn off Do not disturb mode:

  • Open Settings
  • Tap Applications & notifications
  • Tap Don’t Disturb
  • Switch on Don’t disturb the Off position

However, you can also choose how you want to receive notifications by adjusting Do Not Disturb settings. OnePlus gives you the option to adjust notification and exception behavior that allows you to decide how you want to receive notifications from certain contacts and applications.

6. Check the media file in internal storage

Missing sound files can prevent your phone from producing any sound. Make sure your cell phone has the audio files that your cell phone needs to make sound.

7. Check whether the speaker is causing the problem

If your cellphone has broken speakers, of course there will be no audio output coming from your cellphone. If so, repair or replace your speakers.

8. Check Software bugs

Software bugs or interference can cause your phone to behave strangely. Check whether the problem starts after installing certain applications. Uninstall the latest application that you might have installed and check if it is causing the problem. Also, make sure to keep your OS updated to the latest version.

9. Reset all settings

If the method above does not solve the problem, try resetting your phone. Resetting your phone will restore incorrect configurations that might be causing problems. To reset the settings, follow these steps.

  • Open the Settings application
  • Go to System
  • Tap Reset options
  • Select Reset WiFi, cellphone & bluetooth
  • Tap Reset Settings then confirm
  • Likewise, select Reset application preferences and confirm

10. Factory Reset your phone

Try this option only if none of the methods above works. Be sure to back up all your important files and data before proceeding, because doing so will delete all your files in the process. To reset the phone to factory, follow these steps.

  • Open the Settings application
  • Go to System
  • Tap Reset options
  • Select Erase all data (factory reset)
  • Check Delete selected internal storage
  • Tap Reset all data and confirm

Your phone will now continue to erase all data and restore to factory defaults. After the process is complete, your phone will restart. Check whether the problem is resolved.

We hope that the above fix will solve the notification problem on your OnePlus phone. However, if the repair fails, you should consider contacting OnePlus support for further diagnosis.
